Where to Hold a Job Interview When You Don’t Have an Office
“Places to do Zoom interviews? Libraries? Coworking?” comes up often on Reddit, from both sides of the table. Candidates need a quiet place to interview remotely. Small business owners need somewhere professional to interview candidates in person.
Either way, the answer is usually a private room booked by the hour.
For small businesses interviewing candidates
If your team is remote or you work from home, interviewing at a coffee shop sends the wrong message and makes it hard to talk openly about pay or expectations. A rented room fixes that.
What works well:
- A small room for one-on-ones. The Blue and Lucille Rooms at Tucker Collective seat 3 to 4 people and cost $40 an hour.

Tips for a smooth interview day:
- Leave 15 minutes between candidates so nobody overlaps in the hallway.
- Send each candidate the address, parking details and your cell number.
- Have water and a printed copy of their résumé ready.
- Keep notes in the room, not in the hallway.

For candidates doing video interviews
A video interview from home can go wrong fast: kids, dogs, a delivery, bad WiFi. Libraries often don’t allow calls in open areas.
